How To Write A Great Review For Your Photographer

If you want to make your photographer’s day, head to their Google page & leave them a glowing review! Reviews are everything to small businesses like mine, as they really help our new clients & customers to trust that they will have a positive experience if they choose to purchase our products or book our services. Keep reading to learn more about why online reviews are so important for Photographers, & be sure to scroll down to the end of this post to read a few tips & prompts that will help you to write a great review!

Why Should I Write my photographer a review?

Did you know that many people trust online reviews almost as much as they trust personal recommendations from their friends & families? Also, over 90% of people take the time to read a variety of online reviews before they choose to purchase a product or to hire someone to perform a service. A consistent stream of positive Google reviews can really help a business to appear higher in local search engine rankings, therefore increasing their visibility online & putting their products & services in front of more potential customers.

A huge part of the decision-making process for a new client includes reading reviews online from others about their experience. When someone sees lots of positive feedback, it really helps them to feel confident about choosing to reach out & to start the process of scheduling their own photoshoot. Public reviews & testimonials that you share really help our potential future clients to gain trust in our services!

Hearing feedback from our clients also gives us valuable insights that will help us to improve the experience for future clients & customers. It’s important to consider the impact that a single review can have on a small business! If you have negative feedback or some constructive criticism about your experience with your photographer, it’s best to first reach out in a direct email & explain the problem to them in a kind & compassionate way instead of choosing to post a negative review online. Odds are, your photographer will be able to resolve the problem for you quickly & easily - we work very hard to make sure that each & every one of our clients has a wonderful experience & we truly do want to know how we can serve you better.

If you take a few minutes out of your day to & leave a review or testimonial about your experience, I can guarantee that your photographer will appreciate it very deeply. Reviews are everything to small businesses!

What should I write about in MY review?

Not sure what to say? Here are a few ideas & tips to help you get started:

An Important Note: When writing your review, be sure to avoid using the words “shoot”, “shot”, and “shooting”, as Google will automatically hide any reviews that use these words. However: “Headshot” is an exception, & it is ok to use this word in your review! Any words that could be perceived as violent or as relating to firearms will cause your review to be flagged & deleted or hidden. It’s best to use words like “session” or “image/photo” when describing your photoshoot experience. Sometimes a review will look like it has been posted from your end, but will not be publicly visible. If you want to be extra safe, check in with your photographer to make sure that they can see the review you’ve just written for them!

1. What was the biggest challenge or fear that you had when you first decided you wanted to book a photoshoot for yourself or your business?

2. In what ways did you feel your photographer was able to help you create your unique photos, & did their guidance help you to feel less stressed about the process? Did you feel prepared on the day of your photoshoot?

3. How would you describe your experience with your photographer & their team from start to finish?

4. What was your favorite part of working with your photographer? Can you provide an example of how your photographer exceeded your expectations or put you at ease during your shoot?

5. Is there anything else you really liked or appreciated about working with your photographer that you think other people who are considering hiring them should know?
