Emilee’s Branding Portraits

Todd Lake | Bend, Oregon

Here’s a question I get asked very frequently by my Personal Branding clients: “Can I have my photoshoot split into two locations? I’d love to have my photos taken in a studio or indoor space, & also have some taken outdoors at my favorite park/beach/hike, etc.”

And the answer? Yes, of course you can! In fact, having two locations for your Personal Branding photoshoot is actually ideal - we want your photos to show off all the different aspects of your personality, & having some variety in your locations is the perfect way to achieve that goal. I encourage all of my clients to consider having their photoshoot at two locations, or at least at a location that has lots of backdrop options. Read on to see an example of what this looks like!

I’m so excited to share the results of this Personal Branding photoshoot with Emilee, a fellow photographer here in Bend, Oregon. She photographs small elopements & weddings & loves to take her adventurous couples to beautiful, scenic locations outdoors so that they can have the intimate wedding ceremony of their dreams.

For Emilee’s photoshoot, we decided to start off with a session at my studio & take some classic, professional portraits of her in a few different outfits & using a couple of simple backdrops. I always recommend to my clients that we make time to take some basic headshots or portraits - you never know when they’ll come in handy! Emilee needed a variety of photos to fill out her website, so after spending some time at the studio, we headed off to a local lake to get a few more shots of her outdoors with her dog, Jasper.

Starting off a photoshoot in the studio is my favorite way to begin - it gives us plenty of space for hair & makeup along with some time to get organized, finalize some outfits, etc. For Emilee, we took a variety of portraits with her in different poses & outfits so that she could have plenty of shots to choose from! It’s important to consider a client’s existing color scheme during a personal branding photoshoot - Emilee uses a lot of earth tones, browns, & neutral colors in her marketing so we chose some outfits & locations that would pair well with her branding color palette.

After finishing up at the studio, we went up to Todd Lake here in Bend for the second half of our photoshoot! As much as I love studio portraiture, there’s something special about being outside, running around in the water, & working with the natural light to create another beautiful set of unique shots for a client. It’s been a little bit on the smoky side here in Bend recently due to nearby wildfires, so the air was a bit hazy… but that didn’t stop us from getting the cutest shots of Emilee & Jasper!

Emilee’s Elopement clients usually get married outdoors at epic, scenic locations, & we wanted to reflect that in her photos. This location did not disappoint - & Jasper loved being able to run & play in the water, too. He’s also great at posing for pictures - I think my absolute favorite shot from this session is the one above of the two of them sitting together with the mountains & beautiful lake in the background.

For most of my Personal Branding shoots, we create a mixture of more traditional imagery (think headshots, simple lifestyle portraits, etc.) & more creative imagery (styled portraits, custom sets, etc.). The goal is to create a variety of images that can be used for multiple purposes & will tell the client’s story in a unique & interesting way through creative use of color, location, posing, etc. If you’re interested in learning more about different types of Branding photography, be sure to check out my blog on the “10 Types Of Branding & Business Photography” to learn more.

This session was no different - I love how all of these photos for Emilee turned out & they look beautiful on her website! To see the full gallery of images from this shoot, click the button below.

After this shoot, Emilee now has a set of beautiful images that will help her to fill out her website, update her social media profiles, & communicate more effectively with her clients. As an Elopement & Wedding photographer, she focuses deeply on her relationships with her clients & it’s so important to her that they get an accurate sense of who she is & what her personality is like. Emilee is such a vibrant person, & she lives for adventure - & these photos reflect just that!
